The equation you gave is NOT an identity,

Did you mean

sin (2Ø)/(1 - cos^2 Ø) = 2cotØ ?

LS = 2sinØcosØ/(sin^2 Ø)
= 2cosØ/sinØ
= 2cotØ
= RS
