1. Justice Stephen Breyer stated, “people need to understand the importance of the Court as an institution, even though the Court’s decisions may at times be unpopular and possibly wrong,” Explain how this statement relates to the concepts of “Judicial Independence” and “Checks and Balances.”:
Judicial independence refers to the judiciary being independent of politics and political parties. So Breyer states that the decisions of the court may be unpopular, but are a necessary part of the institution.
Right So under the concept of checks and balances, it's the job of the judiciary to review legislation and make decisions. Although Congress is elected and must answer to the people, the court is independent of that.
A politician answers to the electorate. The judiciary is not restrained by that. Popularity is not an issue for the judiciary. Politicians answer to the electorate, but judges do not.
But I do not know how to put them together, and make it an answer..all I know is that.

Let's see if I can break down the first statement.
The court is important, even though people don't always agree with its decisions. The court judges are independent. They make sure that the laws passed by Congress and signed by the President are legal.
