You might measure the temperature of a liquid with time. You would have two columns, as below, with the time and the T.
time------------Temperature
15 sec---------- 100 C
30 sec----------- 90 C
45 sec----------- 80 C
1 min------------ 70 C
75 sec----------- 60 C
etc. The dashes don't mean anything; they must be included in order to get the spacing. The first column gives the elapsed time, the second column is the temperature, the two columns are the data table.
