x(x-3)=x-9
x-3x=x-9
x=x-6
x=-6

-6(-6-3) =/= -6-9
always check your answer.

x(x-3) = x-9
x^2 - 3x = x - 9
x^2 - 4x + 9 = 0
x = 2 +/- i√5
