if a math rpoblem says that a square is worth 2cm, and they want you to find the area of 6 squares how are they using the term "worth"?

it is an odd word choice.
It looks like they mean that one square (as on a sheet of graph paper) represents 2 cm.
so, 6 squares = 6*2 cm = 12 cm
