wud narrator be in same situation living in the present? What options she have? What treatment be offered to her?

I think so because it have big effect on her brain already. It be too late for her i think. Options she have to be getting freedom be to do what she want. treatment out there for her be outside world which giver her company.

I agree. Psychiatric treatment has changed dramatically in the last 100 years.
thank you, so she still be living in same situation but with people she just be acting less crazy but she not be normal because of effect on brain.
I think she would be functioning as normal if her husband hadn't confined her. Also, counseling and medication today helps most disturbed people live normal lives.
