Fuel oil is used for heating homes and industrial plants. Bitumen is another word for asphalt and it is used in a variety of ways. Petrol and diesel are used for automotive and other engines. Naphtha is used a a solvent. I suppose the law of supply and demand is what creates the demand. There is a demand because they are useful for a number of purposes.
