When struck with hammer a turnng fork vibrates back and forth 230 times every second. What is the wavelength of a sound wave coming from this turning fork?

(wavelength) = (speed of sound)/frequency
= (340 m/s)/230 s^-1
= 1.48 meters

The speed of sound I used was for room temperature air of about 20 C; it varies with temperature and gas composition.
