I'm not sure what you mean by "no ring." Is there a ring inserted into one of the cakes?
You have 20 units. The probability of anything occurring (or not occurring) in one of these units is 1/20. Once this unit has been taken, the probability of anything occurring in the second unit is 1/19. The "either-or" probability is obtained by adding the individual probabilities.
I hope this helps. If not, repost your question in greater detail. Thanks for asking.
