I have the problem:

A triangle has a base of 3.6 cm and an area of 22.32 cm squared. What is the height of this triangle. The teacher gave us the answer key and I know the answer is 12.4 but I don't know how they came to that answer. I can't figure out how you are supposed to solve it. Thanks...

Area of a triangle = 1/2 * base * height

Substitute what you know, then solve for what you don't know.

Area = 22.32
base = 3.6

Therefore:
22.32 = (0.5)(3.6)(h)
22.32 = (1.8)(h)
12.4 = h

I hope this helps.
