3x+13=96
x=6

-8-7x=-120

Let's prove your answers.

(3 * 6) + 13 = 96
18 + 13 = 31 -- not 96.

The second one isn't right, either.

Try the first problem this way:

3x + 13 = 96
3x + 13 - 13 = 96 - 13
3x = 83
x = 27.66667

Please redo the second problem.
