how do i figure out the length of one side of a triangle if I know one side is 40 meters, and the angle on one side is 90 degrees and the other side is 42 degrees?

A angle, not an side, is 42 degrees. Which angle? The one opposite the 40 meters or the one adjacent to the 40 degrees?
Is it the hypotenuse that is 40 meters or one of the legs?
