I suggest Rent the movie, it is available at Blockbuster. Remember the movie is a fictionalized portral of the fictionalized book.
For my psychology class we watched the film "Awakenings". If any one has seen the film, I would appreciate some help with this question I have. I remember in the film that before medication was used on the patients, music helped them move on their own, even if it was slight. What I can't remember is what type of music worked for certain patients. If you have any clue please help. Thanks.
Or try to ask Oliver Sacks himself:

Probably different types of music would be applied to patients with different types of problems. However, since this is not my area of expertise, I searched Google under the key words "music therapy" to get these possible sources:

http://www.autism.org/music.html
http://www.holisticonline.com/stress/stress_music-therapy.htm

Although it doesn't relate directly to the film, it might be helpful.
I hope this helps a little more. Thanks for asking.
