A 8.8 kg box is placed on top of a 15.65 kg box (the 15.65 kg box is sitting on a table). Determine the normal force that the table exerts on the 15.65 kg box.

The total mass sitting on the table is 8.8 + 15.65 or 24.45 kg. The force up from the table is equal and opposite to the weight of the boxes.
