The Double of a number is greater by 48 than its half. find the number.

2x > (1/2)x by 48
2x = (1/2)x + 48
multiply each term by 2
4x = x + 96
3x = 96
x = 32

check: doube 32 is 64
half of 32 is 16
Is 64 greater than 16 by 48 ? YES!

Let the number be m
So half of m = m/2 and double =2m
So,48 = 2m-m/2=48
=taking LCM of 1 and 2 that is 2 so,4m-m/2=48
Then multiple 2 at both sides that is
3m=96
So 96 is divided by 3 gives 32
