Do I need a comma after poverty? If not does the sentence sound good?

The author does a wonderful job of realistically bringing to life images of poverty, as well as describing what life was like growing up in the East side.

k thank you, sorry this is part of my final and my teacher says the grammar has to be perfect otherwise he will take a lot of points off.
