African violet
ivy

philodendron
dieffenbachia

do they all grow fairly qiuckly(so they can be used for experiments)
Answered by Ms. Sue
Philodendron grows most quickly. However, I've never started any of these from seed.

If you need to start plants from seeds, almost any seeds will sprout inside, and grow for a couple of weeks or more.

Try beans.
