How did the geographic features of ancient egypt provide the people with protection, help with trade, and make them excellent farmers ?

One word: Nile!

The Nile is surrounded by desert. The river was easy to defend, provided transportation by boat, and the yearly floods provided rich, fertile farmland with the silt that was deposited. In addition, some farmers dug little ditches to irrigate their fields.
