what happens to washing soda crystals when mixed with sulphuric acid

The two substances would cancel them selves out as washing soda crystals are an alkali and sulphuric acid is an acid. But remember they will only counsel them selves out if there the exact same amount . This is because say we had 8ml of acid and then only 7.5ml of alkali the mixture would be slightly acidic.
