Can you show me how to find the rectangular equation of r=2costheta + 3 sin theta

hmm. you have given a polar coordinates equation, and want it y = f(x)?
cos theta = x/r
sin theta = y/r
r^2 = x^2 + y^2
r^2 = (2 cos t + 3 sin t)^2
= 4 cos^2 t + 12 sin t cos t + 9 sin^2 t
= 4 x^2/r^2 + 12xy/r^2 + 9y^2/r^2
r^4 = 4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2
so, *x^2 + y^2)^2 = 4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2
Not a pretty sight. The curve is cool, though
cos theta = x/r
sin theta = y/r
r^2 = x^2 + y^2
r^2 = (2 cos t + 3 sin t)^2
= 4 cos^2 t + 12 sin t cos t + 9 sin^2 t
= 4 x^2/r^2 + 12xy/r^2 + 9y^2/r^2
r^4 = 4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2
so, *x^2 + y^2)^2 = 4x^2 + 12xy + 9y^2
