Hi! You may not know me but my name is Laruen Jean-Baptiste. I’m currently in the 7th grade & it will be an honor for me to join the school’s newspaper this year. I love writing a lot, it’s part of my life. When I join the school’s newspaper I have some wonderful ideas that you will love & that will make the school’s newspaper the best this school year. This is a good 7th grade letter. It is a terrible 12th grade letter.

When you were inquiring about Harvard, you said you were in 7th grade.

If you are going to sign your name at the end of the letter, why are you stating your name in the first sentence?

And ... don't start a letter with "Hi!" - it's very juvenile.
