6-y/y^2-2y-24=?

*I don't get this one.PLease help me....

Try to factor wherever you can to simplify.

(6 - y)/(y^2 - 2y - 24)

y^2 - 2y - 24 factors are: (y - 6)(y + 4)

Factor out -1 in the numerator: -1(y - 6)

Now we can simplify this fraction:
-1(y - 6)/(y - 6)(y + 4)

Cancel out y - 6 from both the numerator (top) and denominator (bottom).

Now we are left with this:
-1/(y + 4)

And that's as far as we can go to simplify here!
