Why are there spaces between some of the numbers? Please list them in column form.

i need to find the mean of each set of data i know to find the mean i add all the numbers , then divide by the total numbers that were added
1) would be divided by 8
2) would be divided by 7

Positive numbers: 3 + 6 + 7 + 8 = 24
Negative numbers: -6 -2 - 3 - 5 = -16
24 - 16 = 8
8/8 = 1

i got
32+0+52 + 12 = 96
-17 + -9 + -14 = -40
96 - 40 = 56
56 /8 = 7 as the mean
