first arrange the numbers in order: 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 14
then find the middle number. since there are two numbers in the middle, 5 and 6, you would add them and divide by 2
so, 5+6 divide by 2 = 5.5
the answer would be 5.5

I'm afraid Pauline goofed.
The two numbers in the middle are 6 and 8. The median is 7.
