4 x - (3 -x) = 7 ( x - 3) +10
4x - 3 + x = 7x - 21 + 10
5x - 3 = 7x - 11
5x - 5x - 3 = 7x - 5x - 11
11 - 3 = 2x - 11 + 11
8 = 2x
8/2 = x
4 = x
4x - 3 + x = 7x - 21 + 10
5x - 3 = 7x - 11
5x - 5x - 3 = 7x - 5x - 11
11 - 3 = 2x - 11 + 11
8 = 2x
8/2 = x
4 = x

You're adding 4x, not multiplying it.
