If F is the midpoint of segment EG then you know that the distance from E to F and the distance from F to G should be equal. Therefore EF = FG. Knowing that you can solve for X by the doing the following:
EF = FG
2X + 11 = 53
2X + 11 - 11= 53 - 11
2X = 42
2X/2 = 42/2
X = 21
EF = FG
