im moving and i have cats. Is it ok to let them out the first day or do i need to wait?

Unless your cat is particularly gregarious and social cats do not do well when they are let loose the first day of a move. Keep your cat in the carrier or box part of the day when you first arrive and gradually acclimate it to it's surroundings. Let the cat explore one or two rooms a day and keep the cat box where they will expect to see it put all the time.
