well to figure out what the answer is. you first set the equation which is x^2=47 after so to find out what x is. you have to isolate it. so to do that you have to get rid of the exponent 2 by square rooting both sides. thus leading it to be x=6.8556546. so to find the approximate i guess you round or such. be in mind that i am in eigth grade taking the geometry honors course this year
