Assuming you meant to type 22-5c+8=3
Order of operations is Parenthesis, Exponent, Multiplication/Division, Addition/Subtraction. When doing these types of problems, you usually go backwards of the order of operations.
so beginning with 22-5c+8=3
1) first get the variable on one side by using only additioin/subtraction
-5c=3-22-8
-5c=-27
2) then use multiplication/division to isolate the variable
(-5c)/(-5)= (-27)/(-5)
c=5.4
3) there are no exponents or parenthesis, so you're done
