Use the "chain rule"
dy/dx = (dy/du)*(du/dx)
with u(x) = 4x^2 -5/2 x + 3
dy/dx = (3/2)*(4x^2 -5/2 x +3)^1/2 * (8x - 5/2)
dy/dx = (dy/du)*(du/dx)
with u(x) = 4x^2 -5/2 x + 3
dy/dx = (3/2)*(4x^2 -5/2 x +3)^1/2 * (8x - 5/2)
