The anceint Greeks shared a common language, culture and religion.
This sounds almost too simple, but this was their life at the time. They did not have an interest in learning other languages, cultures, or religions. Their language was considered the common or the only acceptable one that anyone should speak.
If this is not what your teacher is asking for I suggest looking on educational websites or online encyclopedias.
