All you have done is presented an equation. Are you supposed to figure out the value of n? Did you mean to write (5/6)n or 5/(6n)? They are NOT the same. When you write 5/6n, it is not clear which you mean.
If you want to solve for n and you meant (5/6)n on the left, first subtract 4 from both sides of the equation. This gives you
(5/6) n = 1 7/8 = 15/8
Next, divide both sides by 5/6. That will tell you what n is.
n = (15/8)(6/5) = ?
OK I need so much help: i can't figure out this problem, and if i don't get it right i get an f on the assignmrnt: ok here is the problem:
5/6n+4= 5 7/8

Serena, I can not ell exactly what you mean because you did not use parentheses.
1. (5/6)n + 4 = 5 7/8
2. (5/6)(n+4) =5 7/8
3. 5/(6n+4) = 5 7/8
4. [5/(6n)] +4 = 5 7/8
etc

1. (5/6)n + 4 = 5 7/8
2. (5/6)(n+4) =5 7/8
3. 5/(6n+4) = 5 7/8

5/6n+4= 5 7/8
First, let's get the knowns on the right side.
5/6n + 4 - 4 = 5 7/8 - 4
5/6n = 1 7/8
n = 1 7/8 divided by 5/6
n = 15/8 * 6/5
n = 90/40
n = 2 10/40 = 2 1/4
First, let's get the knowns on the right side.
5/6n + 4 - 4 = 5 7/8 - 4
5/6n = 1 7/8
n = 1 7/8 divided by 5/6
n = 15/8 * 6/5
n = 90/40
n = 2 10/40 = 2 1/4
