A simple dartboard has three areas… the main board has a radius of 11 inches, there is a circle with a radius of 5 inches, and the bullseye has a radius of 2 inches. What is the probability of a random dart landing inside the bullseye? Round to the nearest thousandth.

I believe it is 2/18 or 0.11?? Please help :(

No, you have to do this on the basis of area (which is proportional to radius^2)

pr(bullseye)=(2/11)^2
Answered by Jen
so it would be 0.0330??
Answered by bobpursley
I would have rounded to 0.00331

Rounded to the nearest thousandth -- wouldn't that be 0.033?

Oh i forgot to ask....would i use A=Pir^2?
Answered by Damon
You can use pi r^2 but since you are just taking ratios the pi will cancel.

4 pi/121 pi = 4/121

thank you Damon :)
