in the equation thingy for y=mx+b how do you solve for b?

If you know m, the slope and have a point (x,y), then you put those numbers in
For example
slope m = 2
line goes through point (2,3)
what is b?
y = m x + b
3 = 2 (2) + b
3 = 4 + b
b = -1
so
y = 2 x - 1
