base --- x cm
height -- x+2 cm

(1/2)(x)(x+2) = 24
x^2 + 2x - 48 = 0
(x+8)(x-6) = 0
x = -8 or x=6 , (x = -8 is rejected, can't have a negative base)

base is 6 cm
height is 8 cm
