Question

is the pair of lines parallel x+2y=7 and 2x+4y=3
14 years ago

Answers

MathMate
x+2y=7 ....(1)
2x+4y=3 ....(2)
Divide (2) by 2 to get
x+2y=1.5 ...(2a)
Since the coefficients of (2a) and (1) are identical, but the right hand side is not, we conclude that the two equations represent two lines that are parallel and distinct.
