what is the fraction of his pocket money that he had left

25% = 1/4

1/4 + 2/5 = 5/20 + 8/20 = 13/20

All you need to do now is to subtract 13/20 from 100% to get what's left.

1/3 equals to 4/12, 1/4 equals to 3/12.
3/12 plus 4/12 equals 7/12. Therefore 5/12 left
