don't understand help please

When one half of the second of two consecutive integers is subtracted from the first of the two consecutive integers, the result is 2.

Let N be the first (lower) integer
N - (N+1)/2 = 2
Double both sides
2N - (N+1) = 4
N -1 = 4
N = 5
The larger consecutive integer is 6.
