A rock is dropped into a well. Five Seconds later a splash is heard. Calculate the depth of the well(assume the time for sound of the splash to reach you is too small to consider.)

how can i calculate the depth of the well if the only thing that's given is the time?

g = 9.8 m/s^2 , the acceleration

the initial speed, vo is 0
call the initial distance down, xo = 0
then v, the speed down is 0 + 9.8 t
and x, the distance down is
0 + 9.8 t +(1/2)(9.8) t^2
