What is the influence of television commercials on American culture? If you could do something about TV commercials what would you do?

I would get rid of them entirely. Almost all are ...
... too loud
... somewhat false or misleading
... repetitive; boring
and all those drug ads ... they spend more time telling you who should NOT take it than who should -- and besides, aren't those decisions for doctors to make?
What's your opinion?

I would get rid of all diet ads, they irritate me. Lies, Lies, lies. Also, I would mind seeing one of the NuWave ovens catch on fire....
And frankly, I am tired of seeing women happy when their toilet shines. Goodness.
I am also greatly disturbed seeing young girls as sex objects in ads. AFter all, they don't come with the new car, do they? or they don't really wear those clothes to school, do they? In real life, I hope, Miley is more practical, and practices safety.
