The surface area is made up of pairs of rectangles,
front and back, top and bottom , and the two ends.

Surface area = 2(2x6) + 2(2x4) = 2(6x4)
= 24 + 16 + 48
= 88 cm^2

SA=ph + 2B
p=perimeter of base
h=height
B=area of base
SA=(16)(4) + 2(12)
SA=88
