You are an inhabitant of the Red River Settlement. It’s March 5th, 1870, and Thomas Scott was put to death yesterday. In an essay, speak about your feelings about this event. I’m going to take viewpoint of a Métis.

I am feeling more than happy that Thomas Scott has died. He has always considered us Métis as useless. He has said and published so many negative things about us. How can he judge us like this? He has even been cruel to our leader, we have never spoken to him a in a loud voice, neither has our leader. But he has not accepted us as his own. He didn’t care about us, whether we died or not. His execution has decreased our troubles, and I am happy that he is no more. He was the one not ready to listen to our voices, which is why we had to take a step to teach him a lesson. His execution has probably taught and showed the other Canadians that we are no less to them.

Try taking out all of the personal pronouns (I, we, us, etc.).

For instance, you can start by saying,

The Metis were glad that Thomas Scott had died.
The Métis were glad that Thomas Scott had died. He has always considered Métis useless and worthless. He has said and published so many negative things about them. How can he judge them like this? He has even been cruel to Louis Riel, leader of the Métis. Thomas was ready to kill him the moment he was set free. The Métis couldn’t bear to hear his harmful words. The Métis have never spoken to him a in a loud voice, neither had their leader. Scott has not accepted the Métis as his own. He didn’t care about them, whether the Métis died or not. His execution has decreased troubles of the Métis. They are happy that he is no more. He was the one not ready to listen to their voices, which is why the Métis had to take a step to teach him a lesson. His execution has probably taught and showed the other Canadians that the Métis are no less to them. Thomas was guilty of his crimes.
