What benefits would Old growth trees provide for the logging industry?

Paper is the only advantage I can think of.

Most of the old-growth forests that are logged are used for lumber.

Are they also used for housing?
Answered by Ms. Sue
Yes. Lumber is used in housing. Most houses are framed by 2" by 4" by long pieces of lumber.

So they only have two advantages. Paper and lumber/housing. They can create resources for human use.
Answered by Ms. Sue
Right.

I think the question is whether the logging industry can find new growth forests that will produce the same products -- but at slightly higher costs. My answer is yes.
