Assuming he is hanging all six of them in the closet from left to right (i.e. position is important).
For the left-most position he has 6 choices. For the next, he has 5 choices left, and so on to the last where he has only one left. Since the choices are independent of each other, the number of choices can be multiplied together to get 6! ways to arrange the shirts.
