put the following into mx+b form.
x+1/6y=1/2
I got either y=-x+1/12
y=-x+3
I don't know which one.

x + (1/6)y = 1/2
to transform this into y = mx + b, first we isolate the y term into the left side of equation,, thus the x on the left side must be transposed to the right side. to do this we change the sign of x to its opposite (positive becomes negative):
x + (1/6)y = 1/2
(1/6)y = -x + 1/2
now since the numerical coefficient of y must be 1, we multiply both sides of equation by 6, so that (1/6)*6 = 1 :
(1/6)*6 y = ( -x + 1/2 )*6
y = -6x + 3
hope this helps~ :)
