Western Europe has a strong economy, although within the last year, some countries have had major problems with debt. Rivers and seas have provided major transportation of goods.

People settle where they have good water supply -- either on a river for irrigation or near the sea for transportation. Legends have grown up in various cultures concerning their rivers. Consider this tale:

Countries have fought over who rules the seas and the shipping on them. Control of dams and shipping on rivers have also been points of conflict.
