Question

Hello,

I am working on Methylene Blue dye adsorption for my thesis. I am embarassed to say I don't know basic chemistry. Anyway, my question is I have Methylene Blue Trihyrate 95%. I am trying to prepare stock solution. If I plan to make 1000 mg/l of solution, Is it as simple as "do I mix 1000 mg of MB with 1 litre of water"? I am not sure what the 95% means. Does it mean that if I add 1000 mg to 1 litre of water, I actually get 950 mg/l??

I hope I made myself clear, Thank you very much for your time.

When the instructions don't say, MOST of the time it means mass percent. Is there some other printing there, such as w/w or w/v; i.e., 95% w/w/ or 95% w/v? That will tell us what you want to know? Let me know and I can give you instructions.

I re-read the question and you have some contradictions? Do you want 95% w/w (or w/v) or do you want 1000 mg/L? The 1000 mg/L is easy to do.
