Julie, because of formatting please type division problems as follows (using "/" for division).
If this is your problem,
((4y^2)^5)/y^-3
1024y^10/y^-3 = 1024y^13
Subtract the exponents, 10 - (-3) = 13
Or, 1024y^10/(1/y^3)
Invert the denominator and multiply,
1024y^10 * y^3 = 1024y^13
Remember, y^-3 = 1/y^3
