I need help with scales, please!

Q: You are making a scale drawing of a room using a scale of 1-inch:4-feet.
a) The room is 14 feet by 18 feet. Find its dimensions in the drawing.

b) A sofa in the room has a lenght of 6 feet. Find the length of the sofa in the drawing.

One way to solve these problems is to set up a proportion.

1/4 + x/14
Cross multiply and solve for x.
4x = 14
x = 14/4
x = 3.5

Solve the others the same way.
