Has email impact on communication been positive or negative? why?

Would you judge somebody by the quality of his or her email message? why or why not?

Could someone professional reputation be enhanced or hindered by the quality and effectiveness of his or her internet communication?

Obviously there are pros and cons to email. I believe it helps people communicate more than if they had to rely on snail mail. On the other hand, email can be hastily and carelessly written.

I definitely judge people by the quality of their email messages. It's insulting to me if the message is written carelessly or with very many internet shortcuts. A poor quality message would certainly hinder a person's professional reputation.
